What religion is Don Toliver?
Don Toliver is an American rapper, singer, and songwriter who appears to be a Christian, though he has not made a detailed public declaration of his faith.
Don Toliver first gained widespread recognition in 2018 with his standout feature on Travis Scott’s track “Can’t Say.” Since then, he has had success with such albums as Heaven or Hell, Hardstone Psycho, and OCTANE and with such singles as “No Idea,” “After Party,” and “Body.” Beyond his music, Toliver is relatively low-profile regarding controversies, but he made headlines for a 2024 arrest on suspicion of a DUI in California, resulting in a field citation and release.
Don Toliver has also collaborated with other artists, including Travis Scott, Yeat, SZA, Justin Bieber, Kodak Black, and more. In August 2021, Toliver faced online controversy when a woman on social media accused him of sexual assault from a past incident, an allegation that his legal team strongly denied and which never resulted in any formal criminal charges or arrests.
Early life
Don Toliver, whose birth name is Caleb Zackery Toliver, was born on June 12, 1994, in Houston, Texas. His father, Anthony “Bongo” Toliver, was a singer and rapper associated with the independent Houston record label Swishahouse. He was raised by his mother, Carla, in a working-class neighborhood in the Alief area of Southwest Houston. Toliver began making music in high school, during which time he recorded his early tracks using a PlayStation Eye microphone. With his friends, he would distribute custom mixtape CDs around school and nearby areas to grow his audience. While attending Hastings High School, Toliver initially rapped under his government name before adopting his moniker, eventually focusing fully on music rather than a traditional life of trouble.
Career beginnings
In May 2017, Toliver released his first collaborative mixtape, Playa Familia, with his friend and fellow Houston rapper Yungjosh93. He subsequently became a signed artist under Atlantic Records and Chedda Da Connect’s label, We Run It Entertainment, in March 2018. In August 2018, Toliver released his major-label debut mixtape, Donny Womack, on digital platforms. Also in 2018, he released his breakout guest feature on Travis Scott’s song “Can’t Say” from the critically acclaimed album Astroworld. He followed that with a joint-venture signing to Scott’s record label, Cactus Jack Records, later that same month. Around that time, Toliver gained further attention when he contributed heavily to the Cactus Jack compilation album, JackBoys, which debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 chart in late 2019.

Commercial breakthroughs
After signing a joint venture with Cactus Jack Records and Atlantic Records, Toliver released his debut studio album in 2020: Heaven or Hell. Included on the album was his previously released viral single “No Idea,” as well as the new hit singles “After Party” and “Cardigan.” The album was a commercial success, reaching number one on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart and number seven on the Billboard 200. In 2021, Toliver followed up this breakthrough momentum by releasing his second studio album called Life of a DON, which included the new hit singles “What You Need” and “Drugs N Hella Melodies,” both of which further solidified his signature psychedelic sound and helped the album debut at number two on the Billboard 200.
Further albums
Toliver had his biggest commercial hit yet with his third studio album, Love Sick, released in early 2023. The album reached number eight on the Billboard 200 in the US and also gained strong charting momentum across international markets. It included the charting singles “Do It Right,” “4 Me” (featuring Kali Uchis), “Leave the Club,” and “Private Landing,” a collaboration with Justin Bieber and Future. Toliver released a deluxe version of the album entitled Love Sick (Deluxe) in late February 2023; it included four new songs, including the fan-favorite tracks “No Pole” and “Embarrassed.”
Toliver continued his success in 2024 with his fourth studio album, Hardstone Psycho, which reached number three on the Billboard 200 and number one on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. It was supported by the singles “Bandit,” “Attitude,” and “Deep in the Water.” The album went on to earn significant praise for its ambitious biker-themed creative vision and rock-infused production. Toliver subsequently released the album OCTANE in 2026; it was supported by the singles “E85” and “Body,” as well as his highest-charting streaming debut yet, earning Toliver the very first number-one album of his career on the Billboard 200.
Personal life
After dating privately for a while, Toliver publicly confirmed his relationship with American singer Kali Uchis in the summer of 2021. The couple made their official red carpet debut together at the Grammy Awards in the spring of 2022. Toliver and Uchis welcomed their first child, a baby boy, in March of 2024. Away from music, Toliver maintains a strong interest in fashion and car culture, elements he frequently integrates into his creative projects and album concepts.
