What religion is Rosé?
Rosé is a Korean-New Zealand singer and dancer who is a devout Christian. She was raised in an Evangelical Christian family and was actively involved in church during her early years and trainee period in Korea.
Roseanne Park, known professionally as Rosé, debuted as the main vocalist of BLACKPINK in 2016 after joining YG Entertainment through its global audition in Australia in 2012. BLACKPINK became one of the world’s best-selling girl groups, achieving multiple Billboard chart records, global tours, and international music awards. Rosé made her solo debut with the single album R in 2021, which became the highest first-week-selling album by a Korean female soloist at the time. Its lead single “On the Ground” debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Global 200, making her the first artist to top the chart both as a soloist and as a member of a group. The album also included “Gone,” which achieved commercial success across Asia and other international markets.
In 2024, Rosé signed with The Black Label and Atlantic Records before releasing her debut studio album Rosie. The album featured the global hit “APT.” with Bruno Mars, which topped charts in several countries, became the best-selling global single of 2025, entered the top three of the Billboard Hot 100, and established the highest-charting song by a Korean female solo artist in both the United States and the United Kingdom. Rosie also became the highest-charting album by a Korean female solo artist on the Billboard 200.
Among her many career achievements, Rosé has received a Brit Award, multiple MAMA Awards, Melon Music Awards, a Golden Disc Award, an MTV Video Music Award, and several Guinness World Records. She became the first Korean artist to win a Brit Award, the first Korean lead artist nominated for Record of the Year and Song of the Year at the Grammy Awards, and was named among Time’s 100 Most Influential People in 2025. She also serves as a global ambassador for Saint Laurent, Tiffany & Co., Rimowa, and Puma, making her one of the most influential figures in music and fashion.
Early life and training
Roseanne Park Chaeyoung was born on February 11, 1997, in Auckland, New Zealand, to South Korean immigrant parents. Her father, Mason Park, is a lawyer, and her mother, Clare Park, is a businesswoman. She has one older sister, Alice Park, who is also a lawyer. In 2004, at age seven, the family relocated to Melbourne, Australia, where she attended Kew East Primary School and later Canterbury Girls’ Secondary College in the suburb of Canterbury, Victoria. She sang in her church choir as a child and taught herself guitar and piano.
In 2012, Rosé auditioned for YG Entertainment in Australia, and at age 15, she attended the Sydney audition with her acoustic guitar, performed Jason Mraz’s “I Won’t Give Up,” and placed first among 700 participants. Two months later, she left school and moved to Seoul to begin a four-year training program at YG Entertainment, where trainees underwent rigorous daily instruction in singing, dancing, and language. Rosé has dual citizenship in New Zealand and South Korea.
BLACKPINK debut
In June 2016, Rosé was announced as the fourth and final member of Blackpink, and the group debuted in August 2016, with the single album Square One, which featured the chart-topping singles “Whistle” and “Boombayah.” Prior to the group’s debut, while still a trainee, her voice was featured on G-Dragon‘s 2012 single “Without You” from his EP One of a Kind, though her identity was not revealed at the time.
Blackpink went on to become one of the best-selling girl groups of all time, becoming the first K-pop girl group to perform at Coachella in 2019 and the first female K-pop group to win an MTV Video Music Award. Their debut studio album, The Album (2020), debuted at number two on the Billboard 200, and their second album, Born Pink (2022), debuted at number one. Blackpink renewed their group contract with YG Entertainment in December 2023, but all four members chose not to renew their individual contracts for solo activities, pursuing independent deals separately.

Solo album and Billboard records
Rosé made her solo debut on March 12, 2021, with the single album R, which included the title track “On The Ground” and the previously performed song “Gone,” and the album pre-sold more than 200,000 copies in less than four days on Ktown4u, making her the first and quickest female artist to reach that milestone, and it became the best-selling solo album by a female artist on that platform with more than 500,000 preorders. The music video for “On The Ground” reached over 46.1 million views within 24 hours on YouTube, surpassing PSY’s “Gentleman” record for the most views by a Korean soloist in a day, and the song debuted at number 1 on both Billboard’s Global 200 and Global Excl. U.S. charts, making Rosé the first Korean soloist to top both charts and the first artist to top Billboard’s global charts as both a soloist and as a member of a group. She co-wrote both tracks on R, including the B-side “Gone.”
APT. single
In June 2024, Rosé signed a management contract with The Black Label, the Korean imprint co-founded by longtime Blackpink producer Teddy Park, and in September 2024, she signed a solo deal with Atlantic Records. On October 18, 2024, she released “APT.” with Bruno Mars as the lead single from her debut studio album. The song was produced by Bruno Mars, Cirkut, Omer Fedi, and Rogét Chahayed and was inspired by a South Korean drinking game whose chant forms the basis of its chorus. “APT.” debuted at number one on the Billboard Global 200 and Billboard Global Excl. U.S. charts, peaked at number three on the Billboard Hot 100, and spent 45 weeks on the Hot 100, becoming the longest-charting K-pop song on the chart in history. It topped the charts in South Korea, Australia, Canada, Japan, and New Zealand and reached the top three in the United States and the United Kingdom. In January 2025, it became the first number-one song by a K-pop artist on Billboard’s Pop Airplay chart. It spent a record-extending 19 weeks at the top of the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. chart and led the year-end editions of both the Billboard Global 200 and Global Excl. U.S.
“APT.” had accumulated nearly 4.9 billion official on-demand global streams by November 2025 and 2 billion streams on Spotify. At the 2025 MTV Video Music Awards, “APT.” won Song of the Year. In November 2025, it earned three Grammy Award nominations, including Record of the Year and Song of the Year, making Rosé the first lead K-pop artist to be nominated in any of the Recording Academy’s main six categories. In 2026, she became the first K-pop solo artist to perform at the Grammy Awards ceremony.
Rosie debut album
Rosie, Rosé’s debut studio album, was released in December 2024 through The Black Label and Atlantic Records. The 12-track project was co-written entirely by Rosé and produced with collaborators including Bruno Mars, Carter Lang, and Omer Fedi. The album blends pop-punk, alternative pop, 1990s R&B, synthpop, and ballads, exploring themes of fame and heartbreak in her early twenties. Its second single, “Number One Girl,” was released in November 2024 and was co-written and produced by Bruno Mars, Amy Allen, D-Mile, Omer Fedi, Carter Lang, and Dylan Wiggins. The album debuted at number three on the Billboard 200 with 102,000 album-equivalent units in its first week, earning a Guinness World Record for the achievement. It debuted at number four on the UK Albums Chart, making Rosé the first female K-pop soloist to earn a top-five album in the United Kingdom. In Australia, it debuted at number two on the ARIA Albums Chart, becoming the highest by a female K-pop soloist at that time. Rosie later became the longest-charting album by a K-pop female soloist on the Billboard 200.

Rosé serves as a global ambassador for Yves Saint Laurent, Tiffany & Co., Rimowa, and Puma. Her partnership with Saint Laurent is particularly notable, where creative director Anthony Vaccarello personally selected her as his muse. She has fronted major campaigns, including Tiffany HardWear, and has partnered with Sulwhasoo and Kiss Me cosmetics. In November 2023, she was appointed a Member of the Order of the British Empire for services to the UK COP26 Presidency and was invested into the order by King Charles III at Buckingham Palace alongside her Blackpink bandmates, becoming the only member whose MBE is substantive rather than honorary due to her New Zealand citizenship.
Personal life
Rosé was publicly linked to South Korean actor Kang Dong-won in 2024, though neither party confirmed a relationship. Rumors of connections to Jaden Smith and actor Cha Eun-woo have also circulated, both of which she denied. She is close friends with Taylor Swift and was invited to Swift’s Midnights pre-release party in 2022 and attended the Eras Tour at Tokyo Dome in February 2024.
